E40D Problems???

Ok I have a 96 F250 with less than 20k on the transimission rebuild. A few months back it started doing strange things. Sometimes after driving for awhile when I would slow to make a turn and accelerate it would seem to be in neutral 1st and 2nd would pull but not drive, shut off truck and restart everything was fine. Then occasionally while driving overdrive light starts blinking and it goes into safe mode with the hard shifts. Once again shutdown and restart everything is fine. The truck doesnt do this all the time. Had a local tran shop replace the MLPS and thought this fixed the problem, didnt do it for approx 300miles, then it came back. Now it might do this every day for a week and then might not do it for another two weeks. Any suggestions??

If it flashed the OD light, then it stored a code. have a shop read trhe code and post it here so we can do further diagnosis.

You need a code reader that does more than read the usual OBD I or II stuff.

With the code, you can then concentrate on spefici areas of the tranny.

Good Luck,

Maybe you waited too long? The codes will reset after several start stop cycles. If flashes again, take it in asap.

Hope some of the tranny experts step in..
