Unless you or the wife do not trust the Ex.... more kids should mean more 'stuff' - I KNOW and it's just the grand daughters !

Those longs trips require a tow dolly sometimes !

Ever thought of getting some of the automatic powered steps ? LOT's cheaper than taking a stiff loss on the sale of the Ex and paying a premium for what they want to sell you....

And you DO know our Ex's are ULEV's right ? and Hybirds if ya think about it !

just my $.000002 !

course if momma has made up her mind..... see ya in a Honda !!!!

I really didn't need to read this!!! I have spent a few months looking, and I couldn't find any 7.3's that were a decent deal. My original plan was to get a 5.4 or V10 and put a Cummins in it because I couldn't find 7.3. My ex is really nice though, no rust, clean, just fine for me. I feel that I got a decent deal.

OP, sorry for the hi-jack. I'm done.

Just to add another data point

I bought my 2000 7.3 4X4 Limited with 120K miles a few months ago in the Atlanta area for $9K. It was kind of a friend of a friend deal, the seller might could have gotten a few $$$ more elsewhere, but it was a no hassle deal kind of thing. Also, the Ex has a whole bunch of Banks Power upgrades. I know they're not thought of very highly around these forums, and I didn't even know about them when agreeing to the deal. Somebody probably paid thousands of dollars for these mods.

The banks are better than nothing. I have nothing and would gladly have the banks. I guess it's all relative.

True Banks is better than nothing. Good deal if you don't have to buy them but Banks stuff is way too pricey.

I know, I mentioned that to the wife, more kids/stuff etc.
I even mentioned that when we go to the beach it is full! Her reply was: I guess we will be taking less stuff.

I don't think the steps are the issue. It already has the running boards, steps wouldn't solve anything.

She wants something small to drive/park etc. PERIOD! I have been fighting this battle ever since she slapped mirrors with another truck.

I even mentioned lowering the Ex for her. But it is still long and wide.
Probably time for me to throw in the white towel.

She is eyeing a Honda Pilot. Atleast they have a great safety rating with all the airbags. I have seen a few of them after they are wrecked and they hold up pretty good.

Keep thr Ex, sell the wife Guess that's not PC Ok keep the Ex and buy the Pilot.... Or load up the Ex for a trip then find someone with a pilot and bring it over to yr house... or drive to the local honda dealer all loaded up... now make the wife pack everything that was in the Ex into the pilot and tell he to "pack less stuff" as she says she would do...
Ha. I know those are 3 word my wife will never use in the same sentence

diesel excursions here in VA with over 100k miles are going for mid to high teens. i might add however, that no one is buying them. same thing with ssuperduty's. ive been in the market for one for about 3 or 4 months, prices are crazy high, no one is buying them, yet prices arent coming down.

If nothing's wrong with it, ask what it's worth to you. That is, assuming you don't need to sell it for financial reasons. When ever I list something for sale, I list it at what it's worth to me, and am rarely flexible on the price. If no one wants to pay it, that is fine with me. I love my excursion, and wouldn't sell it because there's nothing I'd replace it with. If there was, I'd get it, and list my truck for what it's worth to me. However if selling for financial reasons, that's a different story.

When it comes to the wife's request, there is only one real response-"Yes Dear". That is unless you have already made her mad with the issue. Then you have to add the obligatory "I'm sorry. You're right. I will never question you again"!!!! That is how we ended up trading my first Expedition for a minivan. Here in NM 7.3's are going for mid to high teens if you can find a nice one. Good luck.

My sister bought a Pilot last year. Gets around 25 mpg on the road. They pull an RV trailer with 2 Honda 450's and 2 dirt bikes (I don't know the mileage towing). It also has a 3rd row seat that can lay flat. Overall I was impressed with how it rode and handled. Not bad looking either.

i am not sure what the wife is looking at getting, but my old lady just got a VW Jetta Wagon TDI. I figured i would be driving it a little bit, and I wanted it to be diesel so i could save face while driving a wagon. just a thought.

also, did you do any after market stuff to the Ex that you would wanna sell off?

That is good to know, just in case the Pilot gets too full going to the beach I will make her tow a trailer also. LOL

I may just keep the EX for awhile to see if she truly likes the Pilot, but I believe it is in the cards. The Ex will probably go if there is no use for it in the family. Sad to say.
