Question does front tank run into the rear?

I trying to get all the fuel out of my rear tank as it has a bad leak and so i keep catching fuel in a container ( gallon every day ) and it was almost empty before the leak started and im solely running on the front tank yet I still have a gallon everyday does the front slowly fill the back too or what im really confused?

Selector Valve bad

I see two possibilities.

1, The more likely scenario is that you leaking tank is not empty yet and evertime you drive you leak out more which spills all over the tank guard and drains to ground after you stop.

2, Your tank selector valve is not working right and directs return fuel to the wrong tank somehow. (possible, but less likely in my mind)

Normally the front and rear tanks are separate, assuming the tank selector valve operates the way it should and does not leak.

The best thing to do is just pull the leaking tank out completely. If you tank selector valve works you dont even need to plug the tank lines. I ran like that for several months after I removed my rear tank when it leaked. I had to pull the tank as it just kept leaking as it never really completely emptied out.

When you drop the tank, fire the engine and if you have fuel running out of the return line the selector valve is not working correctly.

Crap, I have that same problem then. I KNOW my back tank is empty, and yet, at times, it drips fuel right from where the lines go into the tank. Strange though; it doesn't do it all the time, and I haven't used my back tank in about a year.
