No wonder- I think king size is only like 7 ft. long and queen is shorter. Sorry- Couldn't help myself. Have you tried Craigslist? I find several of our era trucks being parted out every week in my area.

Where rust free beds are nearly as common as cactus. (or should that be cacti?)

I think its Cacti but I wouldn't be the one to ask. I was born and bred in California.

Only moved out here a few years ago. I am enjoying the rust free part availability though

Your best bet for a rust free usable bed is to go to All FORD or Truck Carlisle

Well, If you know anyone in the scrap industry that may have gotten a contract on the governments, CARS program (cash for clunkers) i'd try there. I got a bed in great shape thanks to that program. I also know that there is a teal long bed that i don't think has been crushed. but it's a mid-90's model.

I guess it may be worth mentioning that a beds from trucks made between 1980 to 1996 will fit on the frame, but depending in what you're after, they might not all work. Only the body lines from 80-86 will match up, newer than that and your truck will look a bit funny.

may look funny but when the bank account is nigh unto flatlining, you take what you can get....LOL! Seriously though, I know that it will look odd but I don't think I am going to do an original restoration right now. I just want a bed that doesn't need a tie-down strap to hole the bedsides up so the tailgate will stay up...LMAO!!!
