Great Deal for the Money

This is the first thing I did when I got my truck a few months ago. I definately would recommend it as I feel like the truck is breathing better. The only trouble I had was finding the 45 locally. Someone recommended that I try a big truck parts house, and they had it in stock. Just a suggestion if you want to chase down your own parts.

Hello all, I want to make one of these for my F150 as well do we know if there is a smaller filter that would be better for the old 300-6?

Basically yes, I used PVC sewer connections for the bend and the extension I got from Menards... Little gloss black spray paint and it looks and works great!!

Assuming you're talking about a 7.3 powerstroke engine, then basically, yes. You will need to get rid of the factory air box to make room, and the filter just sits on the wheel well. As stated above, Clay at Riffraff Diesel a site sponsor, sells a complete kit for both the 94 to 97 models, and the 99 to 03 models. I chased down parts when I did mine, but Clay wasn't up and running at the time. You will save time by ordering his kit. The only drawback to this kit is that when you're towing, there is a pretty good drone coming from the filter that might annoy some folks. It don't bother me, or most folks, but it does some. Some folks have fabricated boxes to shield the filter from the back of the engine compartment that have had success at reducing the drone.

If the truck is moving there will be cold air coming to the filter from outside. The only time it would be getting a lot of hot air is if you are sitting still idling when you don't need the extra power.

I've seen guys make custom "boxes" around the 6637 filter but don't know if it really helps it at all.

As far as throttle response you might notice a slightly faster spool up of the turbo but probably not a really big power difference.

I would vote for the 6637. Better filter, better price, no fancy parts...

I believe the custom boxes were done in part to help reduce the drone noise.
