Well its that time of the year here again and my drivers seat doesnt heat up.
Does anyone know what makes them tick?

 

A broken wire in the seat, is why they usally stop working. You have to pull the seat cover off and replace the wire. You will notice scorch marks where the previous wire burnt up. I have done to another truck about 1 yr ago, now mine needs the same fix.

Really easy fix. I just soldered in a new wire in the burnt section. I just had to pull the ouside of the drivers seat off to see the problem on mine. There was a good thread with pics, I'll see if I can't find it.

 

Subscribing. My driver's side doesn't work either and I was trying to look up the fix last night.

 

Per Jeff's direction I was able to fix mine with a small piece of wire and a soldering iron. Maybe 1/2 hr of "engineering".

 

What outstanding timing. The DS bun warmer in my '03 Excursion is not working either. My polar bear self doesn't need it, but my little bitty wife just doesn't have the same insulation I do, and I need to get it fixed for her. I was cruising the threads and getting ready to search the archives when I found this one. Thanks guys.

 

LOL... My cloth seats are plenty warm in the winter...

 

How easy would it be to "add" heated seating to my seats?

I've seen several aftermarket solutions and kits for doing just that. I didn't investigate thoroughly, but from what I could tell at a glance is that you'd have to simply remove the seat cover and then a basic wiring connection and switch install like any other electrical project.

Wow, I don't need heated seats. With the 203* thermostat installed, it gets so warm in the cab that I have to crack the windows in the cab even with temperatures below freezing!

 

Anyone have a wiring diagram for a ford heated power seat? I have the power hooked up just unsure of the wires for the heater. 3 thicker wires????

 

Mine had white w/ red stripe, red w/ black stripe, and one other I can't recall off the top of my head.
