My cruise control does not work

I just bought this truck and the cruise doesn't work. I thought that it would be easy to find to fix, but not so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your ABS light on and does your speedo work correctly? One very common cause for the cruise control to quit working is the brake pressure switch on the hydroboost. The switch goes bad and then it won't let the cruise work. Mine is bad, I currently have it bypassed. You can test it by unplugging the harness from the switch and shorting the harness side of the plug with a paperclip or small piece of wire.

If its the brake pressure switch the speedo will be fine, I guess I wasn't too clear on that. I think it will trip the ABS light though, not sure.

How is your CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light) working? The fuse that powers it...also powers the Cruise.

Cruise on a diesel only has a few inputs. Steering wheel buttons could be suspect, brake on/off switch on pedal(are brake lights on all the time), and cruise deactivation switch on master cylinder. Other than those and wiring, the only other component is the PCM. Easiest way to check all these inputs is with quality scan tool.

Does your horn work and do the steering wheel button lights come on when your headlights are on? My clockspring is bad (part in the steering wheel that makes these connections) so right now my cruise and horn don't work.

Turns out it was a bad wire in the steering wheel.

The tech said a wire. So I cant be certain if it was the clock spring or not. They didn't charge me other than shop time.
