is either one dually,, which trans is the automatic, what are the normal conditions that you plan to use it in. all factors to consider, but personally i live in pennsylvania and all the tow trucks around here are 2wd even with the snow they do fine, mostly due to the fact of being duallies, but the standard would be a better bet plus with the heavier suspension would be better suited to handle towing, the 4x4 would be more of a plow truck (again if you live in a snowy area)

The one ton would be more of a heavy duty like you'd want for a wrecker, but the ¾ ton is a whole lot newer. Also is a diesel ( more torque for pulling ), & 4 wheel drive ( might come in handy for when someone runs off the road & you have to go out there to hook up ).

the diesel will handle the extra weight of the system ALOT better, and will tow 100x better than that 390. I would recommend the diesel in a heartbeat
