47 1Ton - performance headers

I've re-built my engine to stock and plan to run dual exhaust straight to the back. I was wondering about using performance exhaust headers as well to better improve the breathing (fuel consumption?).
The question is, are the headers overkill? Would they make much difference, given that the engine is stock and won't be revving high?
Thanks

Peter

46fordtruck has a good reputation on FTE. 46fordtruck has a good reputation on FTE.
Anything would be better than the stock manifolds. They would not be overkill, you will get marginally better MPG, but don't expect huge gains, torque will also be up, just a bit. My flathead is pretty much all stock, but i will still be running headers, just for a little extra umph, and let's face it, the flathead can always benefit from a little extra help.
