trailer tow mirrors

I have a 09 150 lariat that i purchased this summer with the regular mirrors on. I want to upgrade to the telescopic style for towing the camper. The mirrors i have now are just with a turn signal and power adjustments. With the new mirrors i would like to have them heated also. Does anyone know if the trucks come pre-wired for that and all i have to do is add a button to my console or am i SOL with the heated part??? Someone told me that it should be with the rear defrost button which i have but no heated mirrors are hooked up currently!!!

Thanks in advance
Rock

IF you already have heated back glass, then all you should have to do is plug the new mirrors in and start towing.

Any idea if the same switch works for both ( rear defrost and mirror heater) or do i need a different one??? Can't be that expensive i guess!!!

NO, the switch that you have now will turn both on/off. Might... want to check the fuse box though to see if you will need to add the fuse for the heated mirrors themselves.

No problem! Takes around 20 minutes per side, remember to lift door panels up to unhook and remove bolts behind door pull and one on each side on bottom and remove speaker grills and your good to go.

Cannot say for sure but headlites do not glare in them and act the same as the rear veiw mirror in that repect so would think they do. It does not say anywhere they are either so not sure.

We've just picked ip a 2010 XLT and had the dealership install the (manual) extend / fold trailer tow mirrors. I think the original mirrors were power only. The dealer said the install was a straight plug in and they didn't do anything but connect wires. The trailer tow mirrors have the signals a puddle lamps working. Only the heat does not function now. I would like to make the heated portion work, so would I only have to install the switch in the dash for this?

Thanks

I also have a 2009 F150 and want to upgrade to the telescoping mirrors for towing my 5th wheel. I have standard mirrors with electric adjustment. Can I get heated, Electric Adjustment, turn signal and dimming all in one and what is the part numbers to order. If all these feature aren't available, what is and what are the part numbers to order.

from what i've read, it looks like you will at least need to have the rear window defrost in order to use the same button to activate the heater part and i'm sure you could just add one if you don't. As for the mirrors, check out tascafordparts dot com under accessories and you should find what you need there. I still haven't bought any for myself but this site looks like i would not hesitate to order from!!!

If the 09-10's are anything like my 06 was, the wiring is in then door but you will have to add the heater button control unit along with a new pass. side fuse box that has the slots for the heat fuses and relay. For the 09s they moved it to the front of the engine, so I would check to see if the slots and pins are there.

Tow Mirrors

I purchased a set of Tow Mirrors for my 2009 F150 from Ford last week. They are being shipped to me this week. I'll let you guys know how easy or hard they were to install and if they do the job. I'll post a photo so you can judge for yourselves if they are what you are looking for. "film at 11:00 oclock"..
