Good Machine Shop in SE Valley?

Well, I loaned my beloved F250 to one of the kids, and he overheated it. The head gaskets are blown, so I've gotta find a machine shop to mill the heads and check the valves.

Anybody know a good one near Chandler that they'd recommend?

Thanks,

I'd recomend Wilkey's in Mesa, off of Mesa Dr and Main. Ask for Bruce White, he does all of our engines for our modified. He's the only guy I trust.

Good Luck,

Wilky's did the head on my six for me, they also did a set for a 289 my dad used to own. Turned out good. I have also heard good things about Basko's in Gilbert, but no personal experience with them.

Wilkey's in Mesa is good. I have also heard good things about Short Block Charlie's, however I don't have any personal experience with them.

Way cool! Thanks, guys. This beats working through the yellow pages. I'll be starting on the beast this weekend, I hope.

The last time I did a V-8 top end, I took it to a shop in Tempe. But, that was about 10 years ago. They may not even be there anymore.

Well, I called Wilkey's, and they said that it'd be 6-8 weeks to get my heads milled.
:-staun

And, I called Short Block Charlie's, but they don't do V-8's. Maybe they used to, but don't anymore, I dunno.

Basko's said they'd turn the heads around in a day or two, so they won my business.

Now for the bad news. Basko's found that both heads were cracked.

So, they're looking for replacement heads for me, and I'm wondering if maybe replacing the whole engine would be a better idea. Seems to me that if the failure event was so dramatic as to crack the heads, maybe the block was damaged too...
