is my truck missing somthing??
hey guys. i have a 2008 f-250 (in gallery) xlt powerstroke 4x4. iv been looking at leveling kits, bilstien, icon dynamics, day star ect... they all claim to raise the front end of the truck about 2-2.5 inches.. my thing is that yesterday i parked my truck on level ground and the rear doesnt seem to be anywhere close to 2.5 inches higher than the front. the truck seems to almost sit level stock?? i bought the truck new so i know nothing has been is added. my thinking is that since my truck is pretty much a base model xlt that maybe my truck did not come with the camper package or some package from ford that adds a inch or two of hieght to the rear of the truck... since 80% of the superdutys that use the aftermarket are lariats/fx4/king ranch.. maybe when they manfacture these leveling kits the companies assume that the majoraity of the trucks will be equipt with such packages from the factory.. i just dont want to buy a leveling kit only to have my nose an inch and a half higher and my head lights point up and even worse point towards the sky when i tow haha. thanks in advancne for the help

Do you still have your window sticker? If not, here's a link to a way to retrieve and print it out. My truck sits level also but it has the camper package on it. You may have one of the packages like the snow plow package which includes heavier front springs and would possibly account for the more level appearance.

thanks.. i was thinking somthing like that too.. i pulled my window sticker and all i have as far as options are the motor.. auto trans... all terrian tires, 3.73 gears, 4x4 offroad package (which i thought might play into the stance issue but it says its just skid plates..) electronic shift on the fly, tow command, privacy glass and slidding rear window.. im not seeing anything that would change my stance.. the onlly thing i can think of is that the camper package or some sort of heavy duty towing package might add a leaf or larger blocks to the rear and i dont have that.. any thoughts??

F250s sit about level. F350 sit about 2" high in the rear. A leveling kit levels a F350, not a F250. If you want the same height as a F350 you need a two inch lift front and rear, which is basically a leveling kit with a F350 rear block under the leaf springs. It's the same for older and newer trucks. F350 have a taller rear block under the leaf springs than the F250, by about 2". So, leveling kits are really only leveling kits for F350.

So much depends on how the truck sits. They sell leveling kits, but that doesn't mean every SD needs to be leveled. A diesel with softer springs will need to be leveled before a gas truck with the same springs. I think this was more of an issue on the older trucks as the newer 250s sit almost level like they said above.

My 2008 2WD CC diesel sets with the rear end slightly higher than the front end. I like the look. Is the reason for leveling/raising the front end just for looks? Or is there a functional reason also? When I hook the trailer up (car trailer w/3000 lb car) the truck sets pretty level and drives like I can not believe. If I didn't look in the mirrors and see it, I would not know I was towing a trailer. These trucks kick butt. So I guess along with leveling you adjust your headlights too?
