Put the 05-07 headlights in it. They are so much brighter, but you will have to do a little cutting on the header panel. I got mine for about 100 bucks. You can either buy the pig tails (30 bucks), or the full harness(80-100)bucks from dfuser.com There is a write up on how to do it somewhere on here, but I cant find it right now.

Here is how mine looks with 07 harley davidson lights...

-with the lights on..

-from the side

-with the lights off

If you want plug and play get 02-04 headlight shells with PIAA or Silverstar bulbs. No wiring changes, just throw the lights in and go.

Get the headlights off of ebay. The harness you need is the one that converts your current 9007 bulbs to the new 9008 bulbs. I just did the pigtails on mine, and they are plenty bright enough. If you're gonna go with new headlights...i highly recommend going with the 05-07...that way you will give your truck a new look, and they will last a long time.

If you are still using the original bulbs, stock replacements from any auto parts store should be a big improvement. Headlight bulbs should always be replaced in pairs because the loose their brightness over time.

After an ice storm that knocked out power and made it SO dark I couldn't see to drive, I upgraded the wiring harness for my lights so I can run 80W low beam/100W high beams. I got the harness and bulbs from Susquehanna MotorSports - High Performance Vehicle Lighting and Competition Accessories

I can see now! I have never gotten "bright lighted" from oncoming cars. As long as they are aimed correctly you shouldn't affect other drivers.

A police officer that I had been following pullled to the side at a red light and asked me if I had my brights on. I said "No, these bulbs are new, and the height of my truck puts them right in your rear view." He said okay and drove off when the light changed.

Someone else told me that the police have no way to test/detect lights that are too bright, so they cannot do anything anyway.

You might want to check the voltage at the headlights. Check the wire and connectors for heat, indicating a voltage drop. You might have a problem that new light wont fix. Just a thought.

You can put 05-07's in your truck, you just need a wiring harness adapter of sorts and you either have to replace the header panel or cut yours out to make the lights fit. Like I say, 02-04 lights are a big improvement over 99-01 (not as much as the 05-07) and a direct bolt in- no cutting, no harness adapters, just new lights and bulbs.

The lights on my '03 with the 'jeweled' lenses were not that bright either. I'm sure they're brighter than your older lenses, but the headlight wiring is a known deficiency. They worked okay, but they didn't shine too far and if it had been raining, the street soaked up all the light. After some research (both on-line and in my wallet), I decided to go with the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs and the GOS Racing headlight harness:

FD$Acc

It was night and day! It cost me about $50 (the harness was cheaper then) to get the harness and about an hour to put it in (had to remove BOTH batteries to get at the headlights). Made a huge difference in brightness and pattern. Then when I blew a bulb I replaced them with the Silverstars. I'm sure there are much better lights out there but for $100 it was a great bang-for-the-buck upgrade and I've been happy since. Oh yeah, I threw a set of 9005 bulbs in my fogs as well...

If you are getting the jeweled lenses, I would suggest looking into a harness to complement the upgrade...

What exactly is different in the GOS harness that makes the lights brighter? Wondering if there's a DIY approach.
