c-6 trouble

i have a'79 1/2 ton 4x4 with an auto trans that has been sitting for a few years i got it running bot it will not go into any gear there is fluid in the pan but none comes out when i crack a cooler line.thanks in advance.

probably not enough trans fluid. try adding some. if still a no go, probably the pump.

i cant say for certain, but i think it may not even show up when you dont run the vehicle. you should run the motor, work through all the gear positions, and check the fluid with the motor running in either park or neutral.

Check the ATF while the truck is running and hot - operating temperature - in PARK only.
