1991 Ranger clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder?

My '91 ranger has a 5 speed transmision (Mitsubishi I believe) and I now have no clutch pedal. I'm not sure if it's the slave or the master cylinder that's faulty. I do know that for the last few months I have been having to add a little fluid to it about every week or so when I lose pedal but I don't see any obvious leaks. I now have to start the truck in gear bacause I can't get it in gear whith the engine running and the truck pulls forward as I'm cranking it over. It was driving fine yesterday and now all of the sudden today I noticed the pedal was very weak so I added fluid but this did not help. I need to know if I should replace the master cylinder or slave cylinder but not sure how to test either. Thanks for any help I can get.

Most likely it is the slave or the plastic tubing itself where it attaches to the slave.

You might need a new clutch disc. I have noticed that once the clutch disc becomes almost metal to metal, it seems to take out the slave cyl.

Turns out it was the master cyilinder gone bad. It wasnt leaking but just wasn't making any presure due to contaminated fluid. A mechanic told me that a litle bit of a fluid called trans X would stop the leak in the system. Maybe it did but also ruined the master cylinder.

Well, at least it is easier to change then the slave. Yea, those stop leak products, of all sorts, create more problems then they solve, especially on hydraulic items.
