Anybody know the details on this one? I am trying to avoid taking my truck in. I still have the original 196K mile CPS and I don't want Ford to screw with it. If I take the truck in for this new recall, they will steal my CPS.

The speed deactivation switch recall is confusing because if you click on the link about FAQ's it specifically says:
Q. My vehicle and model year is listed in the recall, but it has a diesel engine. Why isn't it included in this recall? A. Vehicles equipped with diesel engines have different system conditions.

Isn't this an old recall? This is the cruise control system that caused gas trucks to catch fire. When this first came out I checked and it didn't pertain to real trucks, er, I mean diesels.

This sounds like the switch that's been known to cause this
Fortunately, that only involves the gas motors since our diesels are wired differently. The recall does not apply to the diesel motors, so everyone here is safe.
I think everybody is getting confused, the speed activation switch is you cruise control, where it connects to your brake master cylinder is where the problem is, it can overheat and cause a fire. My wifes got a recall for her Expy, seems they might wire a in-line fuse to it, I believe, don't hold me to that though. Nice pickup Grant. I type slower than Chris, shees..
Or do what I did and park it next to the garage doors and take the CPS out right there and told them have fun, lol.

Then reps to you for finding this and bringing it to our attention. We need to see if we can't get Scott or Jim to sticky this thread for a bit until the word gets out.
Edit: If I go in for this recall, I'll have to make sure to stick a gray CPS in my truck before I go so they don't steal my good one.

Consider it done.
Thanks for the heads up!

PAA # 14 RIP Mark.. I'll never forget you!!
Dang. I would rather take a beating than take it to the dealer. Actually, I have taken multiple beatings, whipped, and been gang raped every time I have been to the dealer. When will the suffering end?
