Odd Problems

I bought a 2009 F-150 FX4 back in March. Since then, I have had 2 weird problems. About 2 months ago, I noticed the carpet was soaked on the passenger side floor. I took it in and they told me that the A/C hose that directs the water to the outside was pointed back into the cab. They re-directed the hose and it is fine.

For the past 4 or 5 months I have noticed a rattle in my steering wheel. I took it into the dealership where I bought it from 2 different times to have them take a look at it. The first time they told me they couldn't figure it out and wanted me to bring it in during the week so one of their more experienced mechanics could take a look at it. I made an appointment for the very next week. I dropped it off and they called me that afternoon and told me that they could not hear it. I was pretty angry so I just let it go for the time being. Well, the rattle is getting louder since the temps are dropping now. I took it to a different dealership on Saturday and they could hear the rattle but needed a different mechanic to look at it. They told me to bring it back today. They took the steering wheel apart and found it was a bad Clock Spring. One is on order and it will be here tomorrow. That should take care of it.

I am a Ford guy and I hope this does not continue for the life of the truck.

Anyone else having "weird" problems like me? Maybe I am getting them all out of the way now!

Sounds like you got one of those picker scratchers. They are not real mechanics, all they know how to do is pick their nose and scratch their azz lol!!!!

Update

I had not heard anything from the dealership so I called 10 minutes ago. They installed the clock spring and the mechanic took it for a drive. Everything was quiet in the steering wheel now. Although, he did notice another noise in the truck that was not there before. This one is coming from where the radio meets the plastic on the dash. He said it was a "plastic on plastic" rubbing noise. So, they are taking it apart to figure that out. I never heard it before so they caused it when they had everything taken apart. Great! They gave me a loaner car but they have a deal with a rental car place so I am driving a tan Chrysler mini-van. Can't get any worse than that.

Thats a coincidence. I just took mine in yesterday because the cd changer doesn't work. Turns out they have to put a new radio in it. They also gave me a Chrysler mini van to drive. I didn't mind driving it tho as I didn't have to pay for the gas in it. Was hoping to keep it for the night. haha

Got my truck back last night and the rattle started again on the way home. Not sure what to do now. Try a 3rd dealership? Ignore the rattle?

Update

Finally took it back into the dealership this morning because the rattle was still there. They just called me and told me they ordered a new steering wheel for it and it will be here Wednesday. They took the airbag out and it was still making the noise. I hope this takes care of it. So, another trip to the dealership next week. Great.
