Lori just signed up here on FTE, but has been around on some of the local SoCal diesel truck forums for years.

Thanks for joining us Lori - we're glad to have you!

I have a 5yr old female Yellow Lab (Chloe)

OK sorry for being so blonde, but where does "Bocephus" name come from?

Country music. Hank Williams Sr. nicknamed his son Bocephus, and Hank Jr. still uses it. I think it has Cajun roots, but I'm not sure. Anyway, we are Hank Jr fans so we named the dog thinking it would be a one of a kind name. Turns out it is not.

We call him Boey most of the time. So good boy, and good Boey, all sounds the same to him.

Labs are the official Superduty dog BTW. It's in the field manual.

That's right - and this thread proved it!

From what I hear, if you have a 4x4 and a tennis ball, labs make great depth gauges for water crossings when offroading. If their feet touch, you might be ok. It helps that they seem to really enjoy this kind of work. :-)

Mine doesn't particularly care for the water.....he'll go in and splash around a bit, but he doesn't like to swim.

So if you tossed the tennis ball in the water your dog would look at you with the "you have got to be kidding me look"

Chloe would run across fire for a tennis ball. Anything for her ball.

Yeah, pretty much. He won't dive in....he's got to be able to walk in or all bets are off.
