Ford Nav system display brightness

I have a '10 F350 with the factory Navigation system.

I like to keep my display on night-mode with minimum brightness. Although I have auto-dim disabled, it seems to like revert to maximum brightness and stay there whenever it thinks it's bright outside or when the headlights go off for whatever reason. When auto-dim is enabled, it's always flipping between dim and bright . It's especially irritating at night when the darn screen is so bright and lighting up the cabin. I find myself constantly dimming the display

Seems like a software problem. Anyone aware of a TSB or simple kludge to disable automatic brightness feature?

thanks

bump...

Looks like there must be some ambient light detection and maybe confusion with the headlights being on.

In the morning while it's sort of dark outside, if my headlights are on, the display will power up with full brightness, and sometimes the menu will not allow me to dim it. The contrast settings work, but the brightness + and - icons are turned off and disabled!

While driving and it starts getting brighter outside, the display flips between dim and bright again.

It's driving me nuts!

anyone else see this? maybe it's time to complain to the dealer...
