to start i was lookin for a 7.3 excursion. i could not find a nice one, then factored in extra price, maint cost, possible winter starting issues. i decided since its just a daily driver. i dont tow anything and dont plan to. that a V10 would be the perfect motor for me.

so far its more then i could ask for. it heats up so quick, even with 3:73s has plenty of power. i may be crazy but for its size and my driving style i'm happy with 10mpg city.

and yes BP has switched to all gas on the slope. i helped do the cold weather pkg's on the last few fleets they bought. most other companys including my grandpas are switching to gas also. some of there last diesel fleet is up for auction this weekend in palmer.

Hey, hey, hey, I wasn't whining. I used to own a 7.3 F350 Crew LB, but a toyota corolla kissed me 3 times putting me in the center divide on the freeway totalling my rig. Can't afford to but another diesel and had to settle for another vehicle that my wife didn't mind driving. Well, settled on an Ex, and am pleasantly surprised how wonderful this vehicle is, but miss my fuel economy of my F350 (18-20 Hwy, 15-18 combined). With my current fuel tank and my 50 gal. auxilary tank, that was 1200-1400 miles between fill-ups, and never allowed my main tank to fall below 1/4 tank. My wife keeps asking me why did we bought the F350 when the Ex was available??? Well, the truck suited my purposed.

The V10 has been a wonderful engine, just feels different than what I used to. I would like to get better fuel economy, but in today's world, a okay shapped diesel motored Ex cost $5000 - $10,000 more than the V10. That's a lot of gas.

No whining here, just looking for options to make this wonderful vehicle fit the changing needs of my family and economic situation.

Anyone who chose a vehicle this big and expected good gas mileage is not in there right mind. You want good gas mileage then get something that fits that bill.

Ok, If Joe at tricktuners.com has adjusted my trip computer correctly, It hasn't dropped below 15 since the turbo install on my V10. On a 50 mile trip to my parents house It will easily climb to 17+. I know they are called Lie-O-Meters but just watching my fuel gauge from 1/2 tank I can get over 150 on 1/4 tank now. If I ever get back to work I will fill it up and hand calculate it. My tuner Joe said the Cobra injectors are a lot more eficient with atomizing the fuel for better combustion. Just my .02 that the V10's really love the help of a Turbo.

Although their last few big buys were gas, they certainly haven't switched to all gas yet, and there are still a lot of diesels up there in the fleet.

Every V-10'er gets WAY better mileage and has WAY more power than my 6.0l right now...

I'll try those Cobra injectors when mine needs to be replaced. Thanks for the tip.

True, true! I've seen some claims that made me laugh!

It's all about personal preference.

If California wasn't so stupid about CARB certs, and I knew I Jeff could set me up with a turbo, I'd be a proud owner of a V10!

Ok buddy no lying just to make them V 10 ers feel better.

Things you can only do in a Diesel

Pull up to a green nozzle

Came all the way back from Texas with my dad in our new truck and in all the miles we covered are all the things we did made for some memorise that I will never forget and they were all in a Diesel

I get to spend some relay good time with my friend Chris working on our diesels together

or driving our diesels

I think that it was Diesels that relay kicked off our friend ship in the first place.
It was the first day of auto shop ans I saw he had a diesel 7.3 and started to talk to him and I think that if he didn't have a diesel we would have never relay
talked that much so diesel started a friend ship right there.

Its a diesel that gets me to all of the places we go ridding.
So the point is to me diesel is a lot if not for diesel a lot of cool things would have never relay happened for me. So that is what a diesel can do and not a V 10

Weekendwarrior,

A V-10 could get you to those same places! Granted it would cost twice as much in gasoline, and twice as much in time. Especially if towing in the mountains! There really isn't a better tow rig than a diesel powered truck! Awesome pics by the way!
