my Cali/Disneyland trip at Christmas, then I can post my highway mpgs. I usually get awesome mpgs on my trips to CA since there is only one small easy hill to climb!
Where are you located, Scott? There's no location listed for you.
When are you gonna be at the Mouse House? We'll be there starting on January 2nd, right after the new year.
It's a different place decorated for Christmas.

Why thank you VASheriff! I always tell the truth about my Ex 6.0 mpgs! It's good to see various Excursion owners mpg's! I fall right into the average mpg's of 16-18 in town driving! I can't wait for
my Cali/Disneyland trip at Christmas, then I can post my highway mpgs. I usually get awesome mpgs on my trips to CA since there is only one small easy hill to climb! I have gotten 20 mpgs with the
cruise set at 80 mph before which surprised me big time! I did a spreadsheet last year and I actually broke even at the 63,000 mile mark in regards to owning a diesel vs. a V-10. My figure that I
used was $6000 dollars extra for a Diesel. Yes it took 63K to break even on the extra $6K that the Diesel cost but from that point forward I am saving more money than the V-10 owners at this point.
I have recovered the $6K and now I am really saving money getting better mpgs from this point forward! Planning I driving this Ex for 200K so it should be well worth the money for the long term!
You mpg's are so impressive it's hard to believe for in town driving, I'm not saying it's not true, but hard for me to believe. I've been working around diesels for the last 14 years and most diesel vehicles getting that type of in town mileage are cars (which mpgs are alot higher). But like I said in my earlier post i'm new on the diesel excursion scene. Are you running a tuner of some type, or are you completely stock?

Aftermarket exhaust and stock otherwise. I run 1 full quart of Power Service Cetane booster in every tank of Diesel too. I do not live in downtown so I don't stop and go constantly so that may help. I live out in the west side of Phoenix and 200 miles out of 750 miles per tank is freeway. Don't be fooled though, if you know anything about the freeways here by me it's usually very congested and stop and go during rush hours!!

I'm not buying his/her tale. Shows up as a new member and posts the same thing in about 5 different locations, so he/she has a post count of 8 now. The first sentence was suspicious, "been to 4 shops, been sitting for 7 months". Then he/she goes on to say that none of these numerous problems are throwing a code of any sort. And this totally unbelievable tale shows up right on the verge of this thread setting a record as the longest diesel vs gas debate ever recorded in Internet history.
Are you diesel folks that hard up to make the 415 cubic inch V-10 look bad that you
would create a new user name and come up with 3,459 problems in one Excursion?

Interesting theory there Sheriff.
You should have Toreador_Diesel play detective for the sheriff. Have him look up the IP address they are posting from and see if it matches any of these CRAZY hard up diesel folks. Then Book 'em Danno!
And by the way, he/she came up with 3,460 problems
when i said i was getting 20mpg it was with stock height, stock tires, bully dog programmer, and 4 inch exhaust with a 3.55 rear end. After i lifted it and went to the 35's it dropped to 14 to 16 around town and about 18 on the highway running about 5 to 10 over speed limit. The best mileage i got after the lift and tires was a road trip to Daytona which is about a 1600 mile round trip give or take a few. i was pulling a 14 foot box trailer with 3 motorcycles and it took 2 and a half tanks to go there and back.
could there be 3460 parts in a V10 engine???? and everyone of those parts are the problem???? I like my V10 it has it good points and bad points. just like the diesels. It just come down to what you want to deal with. If you find the culprit "Hang them High"
By the way I just put new Monroe shock on my truck Because they say "save the squirles" I have found out that dose not work i nailed 6 of them on my way to work today.

Ya know its one ounce to treat 3 gallons! if ya figure about $7 per bottle then thats 3 gallons of fuel u could buy ( just got Diesel yesterday for $2.34/gal). I put about 10-15 oz in from the 80 oz $16 bottle from Walmart. Mainly for the anti gel properties.... thats a bit more cost effective,
