Gibson exhaust on V10

For those interested, I replaced my stock exhaust with the Gibson swept side exhaust. My pipe going into the muffler was cracked so I decided not to weld and just replace it all. The kit fit well, although I cut 2" from the connector pipe into the muffler to gain tailpipe clearance at the gas tank (would have rattled). The sound is noticeably deeper outside at low rpm's but still quiet on the inside. Just enough you can hear it. The kit included a stainless tip. For those looking for a slightly louder exhaust but not with too much V6 sound, this may be your kit.

Nice! Got any sound clips?

I wondered what those might sound like. I looked at the Gibson and might have bought it. To appease the wife, I ended up going the budget route on the exhaust since I want the Banks headers and a tuner later on. I just ordered my Flowmaster 70BBII with a stainless tip on Friday. I plan on using the stock tail pipe and getting my neighbor to weld for me.

Anyhow, glad you like it!

How much did the kit cost?

The kit was $350 or so. Check at summitracing. I ordered it through my brother in law who gets a discount as he is an engine builder.

No video or sound clip. Would not even know how to download it. I only have dial up at home and cannot download at work.

I've been trying to figure out what exhaust to get - this looks like a really nice kit and the price is reasonable as well. Gibson Performance 319995 - Gibson Swept Side Exhaust Systems - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Doing the Ypipe over the next few days once I can get a break from work and then the catback will be next.

The Gibson site doesn't have a swept side sound clip but they do have a couple of others:

F250 - dual sport - http://www.gibsonexhaust.com/sounds/...68L_v10_ds.mp3
F250 - split rear - http://www.gibsonexhaust.com/sounds/...68L_v10_sr.mp3
Expedition 5.4 swept side - http://www.gibsonexhaust.com/sounds/...rd_Exped_S.mp3

tdappleman- That is the kit I bought. I am still happy with the sound. It gets more V10 like as the RPM's climb, but sounds deep (for a V10) at low RPM's. I used to have a 99 V10 F250. On that one, I first put on a Magnaflow muffler only and it sounded similar to my X. I ordered a Flowmaster Y pipe and had an exhaust shop cut out the factory one and adapt the new one in. I must say I was disappointed on how high pitched the exhaust tone went. It honestly sounded like a six cylinder. Curious as to how your X will sound after trying it. A friend of mine has a 99 V10 F250 and his truck came factory with no catalytic converter. It has a single Flowmaster 40 series and it actually sounds pretty good. Extremely loud. That truck usually wins the street class in truck pulling at the local fairs. He puts it in low range 1st gear and stands on it. It has 35's and stock 4.30's. He took the crown from a guy with a Dodge V10. He had to prove he did not have nitrous.
