Hey glruff,
I have to agree, FL needs someone to take charge of this chapter if we want to accomplish anything like this.
I will also put on my calender the 2010 Carlisle PA truck Nationals meet in August. I make transports to VA and PA on a regular basis, and when ever I'm coming back empty I stop in Carlisle at a friend of mine and bring back a load of hay. I will see if i can line up a transport for that date when it rolls around net year

OK time to make a decision...

Its either Hooters(which one will be determined later) or a patch of land (like the park I suggested)

Thanksgiving is definitely out for me, as a matter of fact, pretty much anything big on a saturday between now and March is out(it's season and I really am a Chef). What about Myakka State Park, Lake Manatee S.P. , or something like Emerson Point?

Just now checked in and saw this thread, and the PM, what a great idea. George, I agree with you, it'd be a great get together and I would drive to meet up with you guys if I could, if there was ANY way it could be done at all
Goerge, if I am listed as SoFla David, then I was in Pompano Beach, near Fort Lauderdale. That said, unfortunately the drive *anywhere* is not now possibvle because I shipped my truck down to an island in the middle of nowhere, so I'm kinda stuck where I am fer now.

Anyway, I hope you guys get it all together and I wish I could be there, to meet some of you in person. Best of luck to y'all!

Thumbs up

Guys I applaud your enthusiasm!

Now to add a little helping hand.

Which Hooters are you looking to use for the meet?

Which Patch of Land are you looking to use for the meet?

Until you have a location, the members will not be able to choose which place they prefer to meet, so there is no need to poll the members now.

Generally most states for their FIRST meet have picked a place that has adequate parking for 10 to 20 trucks(hopefully more), is family friendly, has good food available for those who want to eat, easy to find, and is central to many members. Could be a shopping center, a truck/car show or event, or just a good restaurant type business.

Now when picking a place, you have many members who may be traveling quite some distance and may need a place to stay over night (hotel or campsite).

Keep in mind that this FIRST meet is a "Get to Know" each other event like was mentioned earlier. From this meet, you can expand out to a BBQ type meet at a state park which will require a different type of planning or other venues.

So I would recommend that someone from the area of the FIRST meet select one location, that would appeal to many, and then you can poll for the DATE to meet.

When you have the location, then I will help you set up a NEW thread to vote on the date.

Keep in mind that most successful meets have at least 3 to 4 weeks advance notice.

Lot of truth in this post...But narrowing down to 2 places is OK when you have a good base following for a meet, which we dont have here...YET! LOL

I would propose this THMan, (I will continue to reference him because he took the initial step and started all this)....Looking back through most are in SW and S FL....

Daytona Hooters=2100 International Speedway Drive
Daytona Beach, FL 32114

Orlando Hooters=5300 Kirkman Road
Orlando, FL 32819

I say the Orlando Hooters just cause thats closer to the larger population of interested members.

This is JUST a meet and greet so it has to be somewhere like this that EVERYONE can come to, mods or no mods, lift or no lift, offroad or onroad, 4x4 or 4x2..... Then build from this one. Meet at 12pm to give those that are driving in (like possibly me) time to get there without having to leave at 6am LOL! then have a set time to go home at like 4pm or 5pm. This way you have food, drinks, TV's for the games, etc...

Now pick 2 months (ex. January and February) and create a new thread with a poll for people to vote on. Run that till the middle of November then whichever month majority picked get a poll going for which weekend (pretty much has to be a Saturday...) in that month. Let that poll run through the middle of December and then you hype the crap out of the meet.... You will have to let Hooters know your coming and about how many are coming about 3-4weeks in advance....

O if by chance you guys decide to go with the Hooters in Daytona, let me know and I will call the manager. I deal with him a LOT due to the Titan meets I put on. They are GREAT! and really take care of us!
