Okay, I recently picked up a 2002 Ford Escape XLT for the wife. Unfortunately, with the first snows of the year swirling around Denver, we have found that the heater is now stuck in defroster mode...regardless of where the selection switch is positioned. (Aside from off, that is!! )
Being a Super Duty guy, I know a lot of the feedback in those forum sections is that it is the blend door or blend door actuator. I, unfortunately, know very little about one of these little guys, and I have not yet gotten manuals. So....can anyone give me some pointers for things that I can look at?
Thanks in advance!!

Good question....I am not sure whether the blend door operates on vacuum or an electric motor. I found the Ford shop manuals (vol. 1 & 2 and the wiring diagrams) in an eBay auction for about $35. If I get them before the weekend, that will help with the troubleshooting greatly!
Anyone know if this accessible below the dash and/or through the glove box opening?
