Alot of states are different from each other and very differnt from the looney tunes laws in California. Some states have a maximum headlight height, some dont, some have a maximum bumper height, again some dont, Some have a minimum height for light or bumpers (anti-lowrider thing,... that one I dont mind) Technically here in colorado they have a maximum headlight height as well and a minimum bumper height. But theyve also got a law that states "no vehicle may be altered from factory beyond standards" There are ways around everything you just have to be creative, and be prepared to face an occasional ticket if your wrong or ont the learning curve.
Here in the great commonwealth of Kentucky we have no regs on bumper height or headlights. There is a Ford truck running around the Boone county area called "El Diablo" that is so high that I was able to see under his rear bumper when I was sitting in a F450 stakebed. I grew up in Ohio where they would nail you for bumper height so I plan on lifting my Bronco so that I can fit 44's under it. Why you may ask, just because I can and not get in trouble lol.

Why do you call the leo`s a holes (twice)? They are doing their job.Maybe when you get a job then you will prefer to be addressed as... a hole.
2 black officers .1 male one female......and what is up with that statement. Are you racist?
If you can afford to raise the truck 12" and mod suspension, tires ect then I think you can afford ticket. When the headlights are that high they tend to blind the person in front of you

I wont be addressed as that cuz i wont be one like they were. I kno he was doing his job. I run across and aid cops my self. But to be a ahole to someone isnt necessary. You can explain nicely, not just say quote on quote " you! get out and come here!" from the back of my truck, then say ur gettin a ticket..and not even explaining what for..i thought it was my registration.
Thats called a a**hole.

Saw the 2 cops with lights flashing pulled over in a parking lot just talking to eachother. saw they look at me and my truck, I see the cop head lights behind me, i told my gf..watch these a holes pull me over...
According to this part of your initial post, you had already decided the officers were "a holes" before you even got stopped or talked to them. You were telling your girlfriend they were "a holes" and were going to stop you.

If their race and gender don't matter, why did you even mention either one? Sorry but I've got to agree with Hank on this one. They seemed like "a holes" to you because you had already made up your mind that they were before you even had any contact with them.
Just out of curiousity, why even mention that you are an FD explorer? Is that supposed to get you out of trouble or something?

no after i got out.. he looked in my truck to see who it was. they saw all my fire gear in the back..and he asked me why. thats why i told him that..or else he woulda thought it was stolen. and i was like thats why i cant really get a ticket either.but he has his mind set on giving me one so i said ok thats fine..
and to be honest i think they were profiling .

Isn't that the same thing you were doing by telling your girlfriend they were "a holes" before you even talked to them?
Anyways, back to the original posted question. Are you planning on keeping the lift that's on the truck now? If so, I think I would go with one of the suggestions above about lowering the headlights. The Hellas, etc. aren't DOT approved for use as headlights unless they are specifically manufactured as such. If you do lower the headlights like the truck that has them mounted in the bumper, make sure you have the correct bracketry in place so they can be adjusted like the OEM lights.
The only downside to that mod is that it appears to be pretty permanent so if you eventually wanted to go back to stock height, you'd likely have to replace the headlights in the factory location and replace the bumper. Any way you go with it, good luck and post up some pics when you get it done.

You could try it but it could be a costly "what if". You might check around at some of your local 4x4 shops and see if they have a recommendation. The problem with the Hellas and those kind of lights is that they aren't headlights per se. You may be more likely to be stopped if the police see you running those and no headlights. Check to see what Florida law mandates regarding headlights and see what they allow as far as driving / fog lights are concerned. In VA, you can only have one set of fog lights / driving lights in addition to the headlights. They have to be DOT approved lights and have to pass inspection when the vehicle is inspected annually.

There should be tons of 4x4 shops around there that I'm sure have found ways to get around every law Florida can think of. My recommendation would be to call them for ideas.....just get ready to spend some jack!
