Is there anybody here In Calgary that has a set of Windows 95 Installation Discs in Floppy disc form?
It is asking for Disc 2,6,& 8 so far.
I have a computer here that I'm setting up for the daugther and someone has deleted some important files off of it.
I would only need them for a couple of hours and I will come and get them if you are willing to loan them to me.

Dennis,
I've got a complete set that I just dug up after
reading your post. You can borrow them anytime.
Let me know when would be best for you.
Cheers,
Don
IF you have a CD-ROM drive, all that you need is a copy of a folder called "D:\WIN95". It has all of the same files on it that the diskettes do and once on your computer is a lot easier to deal with.
Of course, you have to have the space to hold it (about 80 megs) and access to the CD. I have Windows 95 version A, B and C available at my office. If you have a fast Internet connection, I can e-mail the files to you.
FYI - I'm a network tech guy and travel around in my lifted Ranger working on people's computers in homes and offices all over the city.
Okay ,here's the deal.
Since this little 486 was loaded with Windows 95 in Floppy disc format and I'm trying to reinstalled some ini. files it asks for certain discs ie : 2 ,6 ,8 at different times depending what I did.
To me the quick fix is to try and find the floppies and install when prompted.
OR
I completely un-install windows 95 from this computer and with the aid of a start-up disc and a CD Rome Windows 95 re-intall it that way.
So it 's either Set of 95 floppies or start-up & CDRom 95 disc.

Sounds like a ford-trucks-computer-guy thread!
I'm no expert on these things but either way I'll
lend you my disks if you want Dennis. Email me at:
nardster@telusplanet.net
and we can figure out a time and place to hook up if you
like.
I had some dll files missing and the other ones we talked about were device manager files.
I got the ones we talked about, back.
Now I'm missing a Cards.DLL file
I'll have your cards back to you soon.

Dennis... Just looking thru this forum and was wondering if you got the files you needed.
I have a few spare cd rom drives not in use, and I have windows 95 and windows ME on CD Rom if you wanted to uninstall your current version and install a fresh one. Heck, I might even have some extra RAM to fit that 486 of yours!

Well Mark, apparently it's been running a few days now.
I eventually did an Fdisk and got rid of all the Compaq crap in it.
I re-installed DOS actaully DOS 6.22 then I installed windows 3.1 then once that was in, I used Don's Win 95 Upgrade and put that in.
Now it runs pretty well but it could use more RAM that's for sure.
I think Don must be gone somewhere.
I've e-mailed him twice.

I will let you know in the next while what RAM I have, to see if it will work for you...
Gee Dennis... Too bad you didn't have a car trailer to lend me! I'd just give you oodles of computer parts and software to keep! I have about three extra monitors (one is a 19 inch, I believe), cd roms, floppies, digital desktop camera, etc etc!! I even have a 586 (PI) motherboard and processor...
Anyway, I am still looking!

Thanks for the tips, Dennis! I will look into those places tomorrow. I am not far from Bonnybrook area anyway!
Oh, and it looks like the RAM I have are 4 meg SIMS, and I have 4 of them, which gives 16 megs of Ram. (plus whatever RAM you have in there already). If it is anything like my old 486, there should be 8 slots for sims...Might get her up to 32 megs of RAM! I think they still sell the old RAM at Memory Express for cheap if you need more... Interested?
