Seeing as there are fellow Albertans here, I was wondering where you guys buy most of your parts supplies from.

I'm from B.C, only been in Alberta for about 2 years now.

The list of places where i go to for supplies and such are:

Canadian High Performance in Prince George http://hi-performance.com for anything engine related. From rebuild kits to stock components.

Princess Auto for shop tools and such.

UAP/NAPA for Body Panels.

Is my list any good? or are there better places to at least price compare with here in Central Alberta. Also im looking for places to have machine work done like Boring(sp?) crank grind ect.

Again, sorry if this is not the place to post this but i thought i would give it a shot anyhow.

Steeve.

Steeve - If you get more specific - like what you are working on and what you need, you'll probably get some good references to specialty stores. Like for old FORD parts NOS etc. try George Moir in Stony Plain, or the OLD CAR CENTER etc. Later Bill

Right, forgot to add the vehicle i was working on.

1989 F-250 351w 5.8 Manual 5spd OD 4X4 fullsize no options reg cab.

Not 100% sure of make/model tranny yet....

I just picked it up at an auction a few days back and will be working on it when my shop is fully set up in about 2 weeks.

Ive only had it running for about 1 hour total and noticed a loud knock from the bottom end after warm-up. Thinking it may be main bearings (i'm no mechanic, rebuilt a few chevy's years ago) or oil pump, possibly even piston/rods but i wont be sure untill i can get it into my shop. Maybe if im lucky i might be able to pull the oil pan without lifting the engine, this way i can narrow the possibilties down a bit.

So im looking at bottom end work which i can order parts from Canadian High Preformance and if i have to pull the engine ill have to pick up shop supplies from Princess Auto in Edmonton (Engine Stand, Floor Jack/Stand...ect).

As for the body work ill need to repair rust around the rear wheel wells on the box. I was guessing UAP/NAPA was the place for this sort of thing.

So there you go, a little more detail. I'll check out the 2 places you mentioned in your post. I appreciate it, Thanks!

I get a lot of stuff from PartSource and Auto Value. I picked up an engine stand (1000 lb rating) for 59.00 there.
Body panels from crosscanadaparts.com have been quite decent so far. If in Calgary, I agree with performance stuff from the likes of Western Motorsport or Davenport.
