May as well say hi.

Hi Gorstep, no problem, have been mistook myself on occaision. As for the distributor in the 351, am running original points style with pertronics upgrade. Wanted to get under the points plate to get at the springs and weights but ended up twisting off one of the screws that hold the plate in place. (something about 30 years in place with out moving) Any way am runnig about 10 degrees initial (if you can believe the timing marks on another 30 year old engine part, does anybody rebuild harmonic balancers here in alberta?) The engine pulls decent vacuum at that setting but then when out riding and stick foot in it RATTLE RATTLE. Also doesn't seem to have the snap that i expected but is getting better. By the way, if you are going to suggest that i pull the distributor to take to ignition shop, have had oil pump drive shaft come out of the oil pump and of course the only way to put it back in is to drop the pan. This has happened 2 times and yes the cinch washer is in place on the drive shaft. Hate to have to do it again. any how gotta go. later pops

I'd still look for a different vaccum advance pot. One that pulls in a little slower than stock and you don't have to pull the distributor to change it.
Who's pops?

So an adjustable vacuum pot would be the best then? Have seen these available in various catalogs etc., but don't know if they match up to the ford distributor. Any info?? and I get called pops by some. Later pops

Talk to a knowledgable propane shop or speed shop about what they use. Mines wasn't adjustable and I don't the specific details of it.
Any info?? See above.

May as well say hi.

Great news on the new chapter. From where I sit, ABOUT Time.

Proud owner of a Ford Family. 2000 F250 SC Long box with V10 plant. In addtion we have a 92 Aerostar and a 96 Taurus wagon. Definitely a Ford Family.

Price & joy is the 2000 F250. First trip to the Okanagan was a joy. F250 Sc with a 11ft Custom Camper shrugged off hills that the Aerostar would shift all the way down to the bottom to climb. I was a bit leary off the accelerator at first but as the trip wore on, I began to experience the "power" that the V10 has. Scarey.

Delighted to see a group fo 'westerners" with their own chapter.

Hello from Cowgary (Calgary for you non-cow speakers out there).

Wondering what the Club FTE does here in Alberta other than get together for the odd show.

I am a recent Ford owner for the first time. Picked up a 1990 Ranger 4x4 2.9L with a Rancho lift kit after someone kindly rear-ended our Nissan minivan. Not a bad trade if I do say so myself.

I have been actively working it over to make it get better than 12 MPG, but no success yet. Info on these forums has been helpful, but I might just have to pay a mechanic to fix this for me.

There sure seem to be a lot of Ranger fans out there!

Shawn

Hey "Pops"!! The distributor I have in the Phat56 has an adjustable pot in it. I got the thing recurved at HO Performance on Riverside Drive and got them to replace the pot due to the fact that the old one was a push/pull from the pollution years and I just didn't like it. The adjustable pot was around $50, I haven't dicked with it to see if it will make any difference but I didn't really see any vast improvement. Bill
