There ya go! You are learning how to troubleshoot, in other words find out what is wrong. If it needs plugs, replace them. I didn't want you to spend a lot a money on parts and still have the same problem. Try what MidMich67 said in post #9 and let us know.

no we went to the parts store last night. We got spark plugs, fuel filter, and fuel pump (only 28 bucks, my dad said might as well replace it). I'm gonna do the stuff maybe today, probly later on in the week.

turned out the problem was the solenoid. It had flames coming out of it while you turn the key. We didn't think that was much of a problem cuz it was starting and running. But we thought it might be the problem when this was going on. 13 bucks and we solve the problem...

Thanks for the help guys.

Glad that you are on the road, Buddy.
But I have a question about this business of running raw exhausts and burning valves as a consequence. We have all seen these World War 2 planes leaving the decks of carriers blowing blue flame out of the exhaust manifolds. The steels were a lot weaker then and those engines seemed to work fine under highly stressed conditions. As a kid I ran my hot Chevy six right out of a split manifold and never burnt any valves.

Have you guys ever seen burnt exhaust valves from running exhaust out of cast iron manifolds?

Just trying to keep an interesting thread alive.

How about a dragster with "zoomies"? Did they burn any valves?

I don't think that running without an exhaust is a bad thing, I have been running my truck straight piped for four months now, and probably 5000 miles, and have not encountered any problems with it
