I left you a post on the other thread...feel free to ask any?? I had good luck with my swap so far...Most of the guys on here freak when talkn about cutting up a FORD truck..lol
I've done several and the Dakota fits the best!! All you have to do is make cab mounts and bed mounts. The steering is not bad at all to make work. Just take your time and be careful!
Thanks guys! I had to do a brake job on my mother-in-laws Durango, and had a flash of realization when I saw the frame was darn close to my '53 effie's. Dakotas and durangos are a dime a dozen here in south carolina, and with a Pull-a-part salvage yard close by, this may be my most cost effective way to go.
You guys need to share some PICs of the work involved to shut up some of us naysayers. Critical measurements to avoid interference, desired donors etc. I'm a Volare IFS guy, but they are far from common as a Dakota in the salvage yards anymore. Time to move on.
ksmith203, I assume that the donor would have to be late 80's or early to mid 90's to keep the 5 lug wheels. as for wheel base that would be a short bed standard cab.
Ok,I'm not retarded "don't look at my avatar" but i can't put more then one pic on at a time...
You're just "Pictorially Challenged" Cory. Someone will be along to help you shortly. Unfortunately I haven't posted PICs here for years and the procedures have likely changed a time or two.
Also, have you test fit a bed yet? The frame kick-up over the axle is where the fun starts on most full frame swaps. If the bed is only 10 inches deep and you hide it with a tonneau cover, you cheated and we'll make you take it back apart and start over.
LOL..Thanks, my bed is all new sheet waiting to be put together..My plan is to raise the bed prob 2"-3" or so..I'm doing a trick cantilever 4 link in the back, painted to match the truck...no tonneau's here
