'73-'79 with Dually fenders?
#16
I've allways wanted to build a crew cab dually 4x4 but the rear fender thing allways bothered me. This seems like a better idea than the fiberglass alternative that may be hard to find.

Hmmm, I thought I had posted pics of my 79 F350 rear end in some thread like this, but apparently not this one. Not the person you were asking but maybe it will be useful.
The bed was modified by previous owner (a third party company specializing in it?) and are made of metal.

Those look pretty decent, I would like to see a more pronounced lip on the front and maybe stick out a bit more, but I like them otherwise.
I guess I have gotten used to the newer bigger style dually fenders. I never really cared for the early dodge dually fenders. Allways thought they looked like an afterthought!

And that's some amazing power it's got going to those wheels. I'm surprised it doesn't have wheely bars on the back of it.

Interesting... I would love to see this all mudded and finished.

And btw I don't think they are all metal, from the cracking I see I'd guess they are a good bit bondo too. :-)

either way, whats up with the naca vent?
edit, I read that he is using them to feed a transmission cooler... I'm not sure what the point in that is, its not gonna get much air flow back there, not nearly as much as one mounted up front, and if he's gonna use fans on it anyway might as well tuck it behind the frame rail. Looks kinda ricey and "add on" to me.

I figured it was just very inferior metal used that went bad quickly, but it was probably that and bondo. The rest of the bed is in pretty good shape, tho

I suspose he could have taken another bedside ane re-created that upper taper. But that would have been a ton more work. At least the way he did it the metal work isnt going to be as severe.
The way poster did the work is pretty neat and food for thought. Like I said before.. would like to see it finished and sittin on the truck.
