New Guy- New Pics

Im new to the board and thought id share a few pics of what im working on. Its a 50 F2 with a 67 mustang 289 mated to the original trans. It stops starts and steers, but smokes like crazy out of the right bank. It has a few dents and a little rust in the typical places but overall is pretty decent for this part of the country. Plans are to find a motor in a little better shape and swap out the rear for a later F250 8 lug rear, and just drive it while im doing the body work on it. I just seem to lose interest way too quick when i cant put something on the road and drive it. Anyway, thanks for having me and im looking forward to being a part of the board.

Looks great! Tons of potential - and hey with something that starts, stops and steers you are already way ahead of half the folks here!

Welcome to FTE

Thanks, I live near Fayetteville NC. Yea, the rear end is just geared too low for me, id like to be able to run down the road at 50-55 without it sounding like the whole truck is gonna come apart.

Good looking truck to start with. Why not rebuild the 289?

Oh, if the 289 is out of a '67 Mustang, be sure to check out what it original was. a 4bbl or espcially a hi-po could bring you in some decent money.

I might build it eventually, when I have the extra money to do it right, but for now ill probably just find a good running used motor to run for a while til i get my money right.

The PO told me it was a 289 out of a 67, i honestly dont know for sure, could be a 302. Are there any numbers that i could look for on the block that would tell me exactly what it is?
