Short list here...
- Replaced power steering gearbox
- Replaced power steering pump
As a result of me taking off the wrong fitting, whoops)
- Put my Sunpro tach and Autometer gauges on an ignition hot circuit
They were on separate manual switches before.
- Wired the lights for tach and Autometers into the headlight switch circuit
They were on a third manual switch before.
- Hooked the interior dome light to the toggle switch I had the Autometers on.
The factory dome light circuit seems to have a short somewhere, so I did this to bypass all of that wiring. Works perfectly.
- Moved alternator belt up to the front pulley on the crank
Having it on the second (middle) pulley was allowing a little slack to be in the belt, even with the alternator adjusted out on its bracket as far as it'd go. The front crank pulley is slightly larger, so it allowed me to get the belt tighter.
- Adjusted tightness of alternator and PS pump/water pump belts
For obvious reasons.
And now I need to figure out why the PS pump/water pump belt is squealing like a pig. It wasn't doing it until yesterday when I cranked my truck up and gunned it a little to keep it running. Used belt dressing on it and it made it silent, but after a few seconds, it's soooo-eeeeeee again. lol

My list is shorter:
- Replaced wiring harness, I now have a dash cluster with full factory gauges that all
(including the ammeter) work.
- While working on that, used color-keyed-correct wires from the old harness to add
wiring for aftermarket AutoMeter gauges.
- Painted factory gauges silver, installed AutoMeter gauges next to cluser, changed all
dash lighting to red.
- Replaced the key-release button & surrounding plastic trim on the steering column;
somebody had broken the button off and you had to stick your finger in the hole and
push on a sharp piece of metal. This required just about total steering column
disassembly as it's the only way to get that plastic trim ring on. Was gonna make a
HOWTO and post it here but it took all summer (waited for a friend to powder coat the
lock cylinder flange) and I pretty much forgot the exact sequence of steps to take it all
apart.

I agree, I think the PS pump pulley is a little crooked actually. The belt's always made this sort of crackling noise, and like I said, the new squeaking noise didn't start til I gunned it the other day...but I didn't even rev it past 2,000rpm, if even that much. Last time I took it out for a drive a few weeks ago, it was nice and quiet.

Complete body redo on mine.
My 86 F150 EFI w/AOD got a total restoration and repaint this summer. I did all the work myself including changing the windshield. Removed the box from the frame, removed the sides, and installed new box sides. Scrounged junkyards looking for rust free fenders and doors. Painted the inside of the fenders and doors with POR-15. Hopefully never have to do it again, it was a big job.
I need to redo my final coat, I ended up with some runs and basically messed up the drivers side. Oh well, at least the fenders are not flapping in the wind anymore.
Ryan.
