Move to F150 from 250
I am having a hard time deciding on making the move from my 2008 F250 crew cab 6.4 diesel to a new 2010 F150 CC Platinum. i don't really tow much anymore. I have a boat that weighs 12k lbs but I rarely move it. I was looking to get something a little smaller and trying to get a better ride and interior comfort. The 250 is not driver friendly for the daily driver IMO. ( unless you tow daily ) I just feel like I am making a mistake giving up the 250. This is really a tough decision. The 250 is a beast when towing but I really like the drive and feel of the new 150. If there is anyone out there that has moved from a 250 to a 150, please feel free to chime in and help me out. Thanks !!

King, I downsized from an 01 F250 to an 09 F150 FX4. Now I realize your 08 probably drove much better than my 01 but my reasons for doing are for the exact reasons you ask. I commute 37 mi one way to work everyday. The F250 was just not suited for that kind of driving in rush hour and city traffic. My F150 is so much more pleasurable to drive as daily driver than my F250 ever was. I pull a 21' bass boat and someother two axle landscape trailers with mine and it does it with ease. I would honestly say that if you don't have a specific reason to haul heavy items or pull long heavy trailers then the F150 will meet all your towing and comfort needs. Good luck with your decision.

I downsized from a 2007 F250 w/6.0 to a F150 CC. I drive 35,000 miles per year. Hands down the F150 is more comfortable to drive. Cooled/heated leather seats, smoother ride, all the creature comforts. But make no mistake, it is not a heavy duty truck. You compromise towing and hauling capacity, there are numerous threads talking about that. I won't get into that here, you can actually read a thread "Confused about load capacity & towing" thread I started. It is was an eye opener. Make an educated decision. I was getting 12 mpg in the F250 and I am averaging 16 mpg in my F150. If you do decide to go with the F150 and want to tow the boat occasionally, I would get the integrated brake controller.

Well, I just downsized yesterday from my 2008 Super Duty to an 09 F150 mostly for financial reasons. I hardly ever hauled or pulled anything so I figured the cost of diesel, oil changes, $100 air filters, 10-ply tires, etc. it was a no brainer for me. I really like the F150 so far (just had it for 1 day) but it's a really nice truck, plenty of power and room for my grandkids, etc. If you don't need a Super Duty then by all means get an F150.

That statement is not to inaccurate, IMO. The F-150 is the most heavy duty truck out of all the 1/2 tons out there. Chevy, GMC, and Dodge with there coil springs in the rear don't even come close. My 09 Crew 6.5' can pull just under 10k, and it will safety. This is plenty of pulling power for me. Your statement would have been more accurate if it was worded to the effect of "The f-150 is no super duty, but if are are towing within the limits of the truck, it will certainty get the job done"

I downsized from an '04 F250 CC PSD. Man, do i miss it. Now, just to give you an idea, I drive 15 miles round trip to work on local roads - not much city driving. I am a joe-homeowner-weekend-warrior-always-working-on-the-house kind of guy. I don't need my truck for my professional career...i work in the office most days.
Plain and simple, I just love big trucks - grew up in the coal regions of PA, so its in my blood. The F150 is a "pretty boy" truck in comparison to the super duty. I'm not saying it can't work hard - it does and it does it very well. But, it's quiet, smooth, calm, rides and handles like a car.
The long and short of it, the F150 serves my needs and then some. The F250 was just freakin' cool. The smell of diesel in the morning really tripped my trolly. I'm not a "hoity-toity" kind of guy, but the other people in my office are a bit that way - the fact that my F250 would make them cringe a bit on the inside made me happy - don't ask me to explain that one.
So, I say - choose wisely. You're gonna pay through the nose in depreciation...make sure its worth it...For me, it will be a long time before i can justify buying another pickup truck and the next one might have to be a diesel superduty. whether i need it or not.

Read the post below this one and see my recent findings on close to 1,700 pounds of payload on a 2010 Lariat Supercrew 4X4 with the Max Tow.
I have gone between both the F-150 and F-250 before with some regrets each way. Now that I am in a 2008 F-350, I am ready to go back to a King Ranch F-150. With a 1,600+ payload, I should be set.

I think trading my f350 for the f150 was probably the dumbest thing i have ever done. My 09 is a pile of junk 15000 km, cab has been off 6 times already for engine repairs. #7 is about a week away. everything in the interior rattles and squeeks. truck shakes like it has square tires. oh and the best one is its the junk pirelli's that are on it, ford issued a bulletin that its normal for those tires to shake. nice to see ford it doing everything possible to not stand behind their product. to confirm this statemnets they wont replace the motor in my truck they replace a cylinder head at a time and other components.. when it get quieter they claim its normal and wont fix anything untill the noise comes back twice as bad. people complain about the 6.0 diesels and i can honnestly say i wish i had mine back.

If it's been back 6 times, lemon it. Canada has a procedure for this as does the US. There are lemons out there - happens to every manufacturer. Go through the procedure and get you something new - either another 150 or a new 350.

6 times for engine repairs? Nope, sorry, throwing a big ol' BS flag.
