I've had my tuner a little over a month.
The 87 oct Towing tune made all the difference in the world. 02 250SD 6.8 2V 3.73 gear pulling 40 ft 5th wheel and 16 ft boat at max gvw. Hills I used to go into at 65 mph and top at 52 mph I now go into at 65 and top at 65. Love It Love It Love It.

Economey tune I like most of it. Nice smooth shifts ran 3 tanks thru, maybe improve mph a little.... got 14+- with normal mix of hwy and running around.
BUT I CAN NOT stand the way it acts going downhill at hwy speed. feels like it coasts then catches up with itself every 10 sec or so. HATE it.

The preformance tune is probably ok, but us old farts don't hotrod too much... at least I try not to. I ran 2 tanks thru and got about 13.5 mpg. I don't like the feel of driving this tune but that is just my personal preferrence, I'm sure it gives much better preformance...but it does feel good goind down hill at highway speed.

So I put it back to stock when I'm not towing.... have got as high as 17 mpg with long trips at 65 mph... not uncommon at all to see 14 & 15.... but 12 to 13 with normal run around.

The towing tune was worth the money!!

Thats the engine braking where it goes into open loop and shuts off the fuel injectors to save fuel. The engine braking goes on and off and is what makes the variations. The stock tune does this also its just a little different and it is just annoying IMO. The performance tune is awsome, I suggest you give it more of a chance. The OD works so much better with the performance tune and its much nicer all around than stock.

I'll try the preformance on my next long light trip,
For regular driving, the preformance tune seems a little harsh for my preference...not near as smooth as economey.
but the economey tune would be good if it wasn't for that on/off feeling...anyway to get around that?
The stock tune might do the same thing differently, but I can't feel it.

Hi Old Time RV'er
Most likely what you are feeling is combination of torque converter staying locked and coast fuel shut off taking place. Please dont feel like you have to settle for just ok. Custom Tuning is really all about dialing in truck how you like it. Send us an email or call us and we can send over a tune revision for download on to device to more your liking.. Also thanks for feedback on tow tune..

Got er Dun

Wow, you talk about customer service..... Mike sent me a new tune and instructions. Got it retuned and test drove and a world of difference.
Now I like the economey tune. Always was very smooth to drive, now it feels great down hill. Much more comfortable driving than the stock tune.

That's one of the reasons I push Mike so much. He's right there when you want something changed.

It doesn't take a week to get a tune back because he had to hand it off to someone who MIGHT know what they are doing. Well, maybe he does, but at least he's quick about it

I am another satified customer. I have been running my 93 performance tune for a few months now. I love the way the TC locks up at stay locked when I turn OD off. Merging on the highway is an absolute blast. I love the looks on peoples faces when they see a 7000 lb truck ripping onto the highway at 75 with ease. Plus the Banks kits lets then know I am coming.

Great job Mike.

I'll add another A+ rating to Mike and 5-Star Tuning. I got the Live Wire with their 91 Oct Econ/Perf, 91 Oct Tow Tune and the 93 Oct Perf. So for I've only used the 91 Econo/Perf, but it does really well. I like the fact that the lock up happens in 3rd gear early in the rpm. The Tow tune goes in early next week as I'm dragging my 5th-wheel camper to Talladega for the race.
