I need to know the approximate length and width of the gas tnak skid plate on a 2008 or newer F250/350.
Why? I want to buy one when I am down south later this month and there are limits on the dimensions of things you can check can be up to 62 inches long but a max of 115 inches total length + width + height.
Parts guys can tell me weight (17lbs) and cost but they don't have one on hand to measure.
Thanks

I don't know if the 2008 skid plate is better than the 2003 plate, but IMHO you would be better off having a skid plate made by a local metal fab shop. I just removed my skid plates to refinish them. They were rusting away from the salt. It is a really long plate(probably close to 5'), and is only supported in 4 places. It is pretty flimsy sheet metal, and i don't think it would protect your gas tank from much. It certainly won't support the truck if you high-center it on a rock.
something with 6-8 places to bolt to the truck along with a beefier 1/4" steel plate would protect much better.
I am in NC for the week, or I would measure my 2003 plate for you. One of the support arms is much longer than the rest, probably 18" if i had to guess. it is probably also about 18" wide, so 18"+18"+60" = 96" or so (all just guestimating.)
Good luck
