Canada Hunting Trip
Hey guys/gals,
I'm going up to Northern Quebec on a hunting trip next month. I am probing to see if anyone has some experience on what i should do to get my truck ready. It is due for a PA state inspection, so is there anything I should request that they check out specifically? Any spare parts ideas to take? Truck is a 2005 CC PSD 6-Speed. Oh, and I just got new tires, GY Duratracs. Thanks.

The usual stuff - make sure your antifreeze is good, wiper blades in good shape and heat/defroster are working properly. It will be cold up there next month. Maybe take some of your favourite diesel additive for the fuel, just in case you take on some water. Probably should change the fuel filters too if they are more than a year old. The moose up there speak Quebecois, so don't expect them to understand you.

An extra set of heater hoses and upper and lower radiator hoses, a fuse assortment, nylon wire ties, and a serpentine belt. Simple, low-cost items but real show-stoppers when they go bad.
When I travel the Alaska Pipeline road on the north slope for caribou, I also always take 2 spare tires for the truck AND the utility trailer I pull. Nothing like being stranded when the nearest repair facility is 300 miles away!
Oh, and don't forget the universal tool...duct tape.
