The 1979 Ford Mustang had a single serpentine belt with an actual tensioner. The LTD was just like a V belt setup as set tension with the accessories.
Yes, that is exactly what my LTD setup is like. As Number Dummy said, the AC compressor (which I did not use) takes a separate V belt. The AC compressor is huge and not what I would suggest for a street rod. The WP, ALT and PS pump drive off a single serpentine. It looks pretty clean, and I liked the "modern" style accessories I could actually find locally new if I needed to.
The Foxbody mustangs through 1993, and SN95 (94-95) Mustangs are good donors. You can delete smog and AC by simply re-routing a shorter serpentine belt. Aftermarket accessory delete pulleys are also available. On my 94, deleting the AIR pump puts an odd angle on the alternator. The delete pulley fixes it.
