cat-back vs turbo-back?

This may have been asked before but is there any difference or value in going back with the 4" exhaust from the cat or turbo? Thinking of upgrading and stuck on this, for the extra bucks for turbo-back is it worth it? thanks

Going turbo back is the best for performance and EGT control. It's not a good idea if you have to pass any emissions testing.

Cat back will be easier to convert back to stock in the event you have to do emissions or go to the dealer for warranty work.

IMO cat back is not worth the money unless all you're looking for is increased rumble. Turbo back nets you the best EGT drop. Most of the turbo back systems enable you to leave the CAT in place or delete it. I ordered a test pipe with my MBRP system. The test pipe goes in place of the CAT but I can put the CAT back in when the need arises.

Actually turbo backs really don't mean that you are getting a cat-less system. You would have to get an "off-road" turbo-back system to get it cat-less, but you can get a test-pipe(which deletes the cat) for your respective system and that makes it easy enough to switch the cat in and out while you are getting it tested.

rule of thumb as far as egt drops:
all other things being equal... (muffler, etc..)
the cat back is about 75% of the benefit as a turbo back...

the tb will give you better flow all the way out...
but unless you are going for EVERY % of hp, not significantly different...

OR you can do what I did on mine,
a walker BTM muffler drops your egt's about $200 and gets better flow and sound for < %60

And I've stated my opinions on cats.....
the feds get enough of my money and the CAT is a FEDERALLY mandated accessory... and IF CAUGHT could be a $10K fine (it's in your owners manual and usually under the hood).... but too each his own...
