Clutch, Does it interchange?

I have a 73 ford chassis under my stepvan. It needs a new clutch in the NP435. It has a 3 finger pressure plate now. When I look for parts, all I'm finding is the diaphram type. Are they interchangeable?

The diaphram type clutch is supposed to give you a smoother release when you let out on the pedal. The down side is that they usually have less spring pressure the the three finger type. If I had a P-400 I would stay with three fingers. The three fingers are much more durable than the diaphram. We have had diaphrams incorrectly adjusted (not enough pedal free play) so that they push the fingers too far forward and damage the pressure plate. The little fingers on the diaphrams can bend, fall out and leave you with a clutch that will not release.
