Ford Engineers say the Design Life of the PSD.....

So in the '2011 6.7L Ford Diesel' forum there is a slide presentation put on by their engineers saying, after rugged testing, they are pronounce the design life of the new PSD will be 250K miles. My question is, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE DESIGN LIFE OF OUR 7.3s Was?? Thanks in advance for the info.

They probably don't have one but I can tell you if you take care of it and change the fluids frequently then it will last pretty much forever. Look under the post for how many miles on you 7.3 somebody had over 500,000

International's expected life of the T444E was about 400,000 miles, or 10,000 hours.

You guys have allot of Rep-points, so you know your stuff. So if 400K is the design, of course, some people will smoke their babies prematurally, but many others could make them last much longer. So, ours on average should last almost twice as long those new one's (250K vs 400K+)

Do you happen to have a link JJ? Is the 250k the B50 or B10 life? If the B50 is 250k, and the price of the motor is what I think it will be, I might need to start looking for a block to rebuild and have ready when the time comes.

Be sure to check the school corporations. They can only run the busses so many years before they need to be replaced. Of course you would need to buy the whole bus. I believe they go pretty cheap though.

I feel the same way a lot of times Cody, but in this instance I am sure this is not the case. Those folks aren't OT posters.

From what I remember, the B50 life of a T444e is 350k, which I'll hit next year. One thing I've been noticing lately is next year seems to get here sooner and sooner. I'm over 306k now, and I'll likely be near 400 by the time the 6.7 has given us any indication weather it's reliable.

If your truck was going to have 400k in just 24 months from now, wouldn't you start making plans?

I thought i also read the Cummins was also 400k.. The Dura was 250k miles. Before a heart transplant was needed. And with them duramax's rated at 250k they still sell tons of them.. Wish i could find that article, i have so many bookmarks and one of these day i have to sort them out. That is of course if i got my facts straight.

I just hope them new Fords are ok. And not turn in to the 2003 fiasco. or worse.

You've seen the Black truck. Besides the pink stuff, I'd never be able to keep it clean enough to drive it.
