89 f250 offroad traction bar build

heres the traction bar build for my 1989 f250 with about 6 inches of lift and 38in tsl radials. The basic idea of the build was to not limit my flex or articulation in any way while removing all axle wrap to stop the clunking noises under axeleration.

I feel as though i had orriginally posted it in the wrong section as i got no input, so im tryin to repost it here. Im not sure about moving threads and what not so heres the link to it. Thanks for lookin

What kind of tubing is that? I use nothing but DOM seamless for these jobs.

The steel seams to have a small bead on the inside if im remebering correctly, im not sure what that would make it. I can't take a look cas im actually on vacation in emerald isle, was looking forward to the little doo! but i picked the wrong week to come down, haha no bog last weekend and im leaving 2am saturday mornin to head back home. Im surprized with how i attached the threaded rod to the steel tube that it hasnt broken yet. I was sure at the first bog ti would blow it appart under torque. The steel tubing itself seams durable enough to take the torque of my currently stock 351w.

That rear axle would bug the ever lovin' out of me that far forward. + your building a mud bogger. I mean you could take. 5foot sections. Of 4x4" steel and just weld your axels to your frame and have an "awesome mud rig" but the bar looks good

yeah that zero rate i put in there shoved the axle back and i didnt weld the bar or to my frame to allow some flex and movement because its also my daily driver. I was debating over having the threaded sections or just welding the bars in but ended up going for it since i found some hiems and threaded rod for a dollar per lb.

hey, it works! I do plan on takin the bar off and cleaning up the welds and finishing it up but like with most of my projects i plan on going back to finish it but it ends up workin and then i lose interest and move onto the next project I'm also takin welding next year in school so im sure most stuff that i have done will end up pulled off and rewelded a bit stronger. But yeah i do agree with you, doesnt look so pretty, im surprised it didnt break yet

haha, and yeah i was welding it from up in between the gas tank and drive shaft with the rear end of the truck backed somewhat into the garage because it was raining out and the truck doesnt fit in the garage, not exactly the best scenario with the bottom of the line harbor freight stick welder, i was also in a pinch trying to get it done so that i could go out and get the oil and new filter for an oil change as i had just finished doing the timing cover gasket (when you do a TC gasket on a 5.8 ya sure get alot of gasket in the oil pan, stupid setup) and had the mud bog the day after. Sometime soon ill take the bar off to weld it... much easier that way but the way i did it worked in a pinch. Im also 17, not much welding experience, been at it about 6-8 months now.

The design I like!
The welding.. Looks like poo. That's not my biggest concern it's that sleeve thing with with what was an attempt of a plug weld by hashing a couple holes in tube. I would of welded a big nut on the end or used a different johny joint end with bigger thread. Also what size is thread? Too small and it could bend.
My trac bar is similar design but with a 1.25" thread.

For welded sleeve check out my high steer rods I did here
