Looks good Ed

What does the driveshaft look like sitting flat?
How much extension out of the splines do you get on full articulation? It may be a case of being able to extend the driveshaft (if you have room to play with), but you probably have already thought about that.

Yes sir, I have thought long and hard about that. Thank you for the compliments by the way.
The driveshaft angle is very nice, but the splines just do not have enough travel. See when the vehicle is at static heigth, everything appears fine, but once I compress the driver side suspension, the shaft compresses all of the way. I can limit this with a bump stop, but this is not quite the best answer. At any rate, even with this particular measurement, once the dirver side reaches only a moderate amount of extension the driveshaft pops out. This means that longer splines are going to be needed to accomodate the travel needed to keep the shaft together.
I believe that part of this problem is that this axle (late D60 F) has a short driver side axle, and the diff itself is offset further than any other D60. That means that yoke itself will travel on a greater arch, or require a greater amount of movement when the suspension cycles. This has to be greater than any earlier axle that has the diff closer to the center.
Notice that the rear does not see this type of travel, since the diff is located in the center of the axle, and the axle can rotate on the center during regular old articulation.
The front is not so fortunate. Its a small price to pay really.

It is hard as hell to find a 78-79 D60 with little offset. I got lucky when I found mine. It had a nice little truck attached.

Almost time to start workin on her (if I get room in the shop)
We have some major steering issues here I think.

I was just looking for a 79 Dana 60 HP KP for my Jeep. He would not part it out so I bought the whole truck. It has not been on the road in 16 years. Old school Monster Show truck. Not a bad deal for $1,750 delivered.

Now who has a Cummins 5.9 to trade for a 76 Highboy

Was on Gateway 44" Monster Mudders back in the day.

75F350,

Did you make those shackles? I would like to get a similar set for my 77 F150, but can't find them anywhere?

Thanks!

Just simple 3/8" mild steel. Only MIG welded together. Nothing fancy here. Small breaks that were pretty easy to do.
These are a direct copy of some that are available from any aftermerket supplier.
I believe that I made mine only slightly longer. My front hanger is right around 4 inches in length. This is why the stock SD front spring could be used and this heigth was achieved.

Sounds interesting. Do you have some pictures of your shackles? I looked on your picture account but I didn't see any. I might have missed them.
