Rear Cab Corner with Gas Tank

Does anybody know of a company that sells the drivers side rear corner panel that includes the recess for the gas tank filler neck? Most of the cab corner in my 55 is rotted out. The gas recess is still in ok shape but it would be easier to just replace the whole section including a new recess rather than having to try and fix / blend in a new one. I have looked through a bunch of catalogs and everyone seems to sell the rear corner without the recess. Any suggestions?

Keith

No one I know of sell them with the recess, since most people want to get ride of the under cab tank and move it under the bed. It shouldn't be to hard to cut the hole in one and use the two pieces that are spot welded to form the tunnel for the tank tube.

Jaye, are you describing a method/plan.. of combining the original fuel fill opening ..with one of the new patch panel replacements? Like cutting out the original opening and mating it with the new panel for a stocker repair..mine was in great shape (the opening),..but I cut it out and tossed it in the scrap pile during panel replacement..
If I'm not mistaken, the inner panel/support behind the outer corner panel has a "dip" in it for the filler neck also...Good Thinking!
Options,options..always so many options...LoL!

You are correct Mertz, the recess is only thing you will be missing mine was in great shape also but I tossed it to. After you weld in the new panel use the original one to place over it to mark the hole off the original panel. Once I broke the spot welds the outer portion just slid out, I'm sure you could fab it up using the pieces from an original, only the experts would be able to tell the difference, the rubber moulding would also give credit to it being original.

You can check with Bitchin Products and they make many type of flush mounted gas doors but it would have to be welded in the replacement panel in your case.
