2100 Power Valve - Which Washer?

I'm rebuilding an Autolite 2100 with a single stage power valve.

I have rebuilt many of these but this is the first time I have had to make the choice of which washer to use for the power valve.

I have seen these installed with the washer that is round on the inside and the washer that is 3-sided on the inside. Which is right? I have both and I'm not sure which to use - or what determines which one to use.

The totally round washer lets the PV seat further in the carb since it rests in the outer ring.

The triangle washer keeps the PV further out - it rests nearer the openings.

The pic below has the "triangle" washer in the top two images and the bottom has the round.

I may have answered my own question but it leads to another - why supply two gaskets for the same thing if they show you using only one? How do they act differently?

I found these pics in a Walker Motorcraft 2100/2150 catalog

According to my Holley books, the triangular opening washer is an after-market version of the Holley washer with internal tabs.

They say "Never use the triangular one as you should never use after-market carb parts."

Of the two other types, the regular "O-shaped" one is for PVs with a shoulder and the one with internal tabs is for PVs with no shoulder.

Some after-market carb kits supply the after-market PV with the triangular hole gasket, plus an additional "O-shaped" gasket in case you want to re-use your old OEM PV.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I installed the round washer on my replacement PV. It has the shoulder (not 90 degrees where head meets shaft, more of a slope) if I understand the terminology.

Funny how the aftermarket catalog shows the triangular gasket used in every application.

There should be a "step". Look at this pic:

If the gasket were removed, you'd see the step.

Here's two OEM PVs with proper gaskets. The PV without the step, needs the gasket with ears to keep it centered:

Correct.

Mine looks like your first pic and the one on the left in your second pic.

The washer makes it level at the drop of the shoulder.

I personally use the round ones all the time, and i use holley pv in ford carbs. I hate the triangles one, they don't fit worth a damn in my box and block the window. I never use dual stage power valves either.
