Need pics of transmission cooler lines - '97 F250HD/F350
I have a '97 F350 4x4, 351W mated to a E40D --
I need to replace the cobbled mess of transmission cooler lines. Someone spliced and used air hoses to connect the transmission cooler lines going in/out of the transmission.
I bought Dorman OE transmission cooler lines, and I completely forgot which goes where.
I'd like to see pics or hear detailed descriptions of the original transmission cooler lines from the transmission to the factory transmission cooler.
I believe the lines should be routed inside the crossmembers, but not sure...
TIA.

Not exactly sure what you mean by inside or outside the crossmember. My trans. cooler lines run in between the K member and the engine oil pan. I tried to get some pics, but it is really tough to get a good shot. Picture the lines coming out of the transmission, running forward above the exhaust pipes. They continue on right next to the engine oil pan, then coming out very close to the harmonic balancer. From there they branch out to the cooler connections on the back side of the radiator.

here's a pic of my 1996 F350 engine bay i took beore dropping the motor back in. look closely and you can see the lines. the one on the right threads into the upper fitting on the radiator. then there is a line (not pictured) that runs from the lower radiator fitting to the trans oil cooler (not pictured). then the fluid exits the oil cooler and runs through another short line (not pictured), to the line on the left with the 6" piece of hose on it you can see in the picture. then it runs back to the transmission and repeats the cycle.
this is the stock setup and you can see the 2 lines run above the crossmember.
