I just recieved my SCT X3 custom tuner. My only truck Mod is an MBRP Turbo back off road exhaust kit. Would the tamer Tow and economy custom tunes from Spartan be safe to use or should I use the pre-loaded tunes?
It all depends on what you want to use the truck for. The spartan archived tunes are all very good, I've used pretty much everyone they have with awesome results. Right now I use an extreme race tune from Innovative as my daily driver but my truck is mainly a toy that gets light towing duty once in awhile. Both the ones you mentioned work very well for these trucks however
I had an issue with the "pre loaded" tunes!!! Be-ware. They acted like they loaded fine and ended up clearing my ECM... I would get the tunes for you codes and you should be happy.
I run a mild street from ID and realy like it as a daily sriver and boat hauler.

Economy won't gain you much from what I've heard. I run stock+ as a daily tune, its 20hp but feels like more than that. I have run the ASE tune and all I can say is holy-friggin'-wow! Had to change back to stock+ before I broke something (no studs)

yeah i would rather run the archived spartan tunes than the preloaded SCT ones. you have a lot more choices too, especially in the towing and daily driving area's. some 6.0ls respond differently to tunes than others (weird but true) so if the freebee's work for you that good, otherwise spend like $50-75 and get a true custom tune for your truck, modifications (i see only exhaust, hopefully you have gauges?), driving style, etc.
I was thinking about trying a tune in my 2006, since I still have my SCT II from tuning my old 2003 6.0. Hooked the SCT up to my 06 and read a strategy of VXCF7H3. Went to whoevers site that has the SCT tune archives on it, and couldn't find a set of tunes to match that strategy.
Just going by the strategy number's, I'm guessing my strategy is new since Spartan wrote the freebies. So I suppose one of these days I'll have to hit up Innovative for their Xtreme Street tune. I sometimes ran that in my 03, and when I put the throttle down it took off like a rocket!

There aren't any VXCF strategies in the archives (which I can't find at this moment)??? When did you last have your truck flashed?

This is for my Dad's truck. Exhaust only so far, maybe gauges later. His driving style is normal driving (almost like an old person) but he has a 8500 pound travel trailer he pulls occasionally. He is looking for better fuel economy overall, but mostly when towing. Yesterday we uploaded the Spartan custom General economy 90HP safe to tow 7500 pounds. With moderate accelleration we scratched the tires between 1st and 2nd. He loved it! Thetruck seems to run just fine there. I told him to try that one for daily driver. When he will tow I will try the Aggressive tow 65HP safe to tow 10,000 LBS. I don't think his driving style will warrant the need for gauges, but I will still try to push them on him!
IDK.........Maybe that's the "newest" inductive heating flash?????
