Question restoration...making it original...

I am doing by best to get my 69 bronco back to original. unfortunately, the motor is out of a 72. which is really ok by me. my question is...Is there any number or I.D. tag on the block that will tell me or rather, give me a sort of "build sheet" for the 302 v8? what kind of fuel pump; distibutor; original carb...etcetera.....My goal is to restore this ole' girl back to original the very best possible. Any one been through this before have any tips on where to find related info? Thanks in advance!

There is a number cast into the block behind the starter. Sticky's under small block V8 forum will help decipher. Points distributor, standard fuel pump and 2bbl. carb will be stock. Stock 72 302 will be 140hp, 8.5:1 compression. NumberDummy will come up with any part numbers. Classicbroncos.com is the best source for EB related questions since that is all it deals with. Enjoy.

hofuf is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Get a catalog from LMC. They've got all of the info you need in there. I'm sure classicbroncos is good, too but it's nice to have hard copy.

The first 4 digits will give you the year, what it came out of etc. Example 72 wil be D2**, 69 wil be C9## the next four just says its an engine, 6015. Look at the stickies, pretty well self explained.

Did you check above your starter & see what casting number your block is yet?

no. didn't get a chance because of the snow. yeah seriously....it's snowing out in October! I will do it tomarrow for sure. BTW, I was tinkering around with the oil sending unit,(I think that is what it is...next to the fuel pump?; with one small wire attatched?...) I was going to remove it a have a look inside(the best i could); didn't even get a 1/4 turn an it snapped off leaving a good portion inside the block!!!....now what?
I would have to say, someone else before me broke it and tried to glue it..er, something of that nature; There is glue residue left on the part that snapped. Someone has been there before me.
! uuuggghh! it might be plastic, I might be able to tap it out...carefully.

It's not plastic. If you still have enough sticking out vise grips may get it. Get your new one first so you can see what you're dealing with and proper size and threads before you start drilling.

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has them for $13. Should have an extention tube between sender and block $21. But any parts store should have them.
