Napa wires?

Does anyone know if a set of NAPA Belden wires will fit on my 292. My regular parts store has tried 3 different sets and none are long enough to prevent me from draging on my exhaust manifolds. dont want to lay out cash to have them burn up in a week.

I just used a set of accell custom wires and then just cut them to length. no burnt wires and look great. would think a set of sbf wires would work. that is if your going over the rocker cover. thats how i got mine.

Talking Plug wires

If your routing the plug wires like the origionals a set for a brand C small block 57 vintage will work, or same engine 60's pickup will fit. I hate crossbreeding things but what works is the most important result. Wires are wires.

I hope this helps ----- Hotwrench

Here is my .02$ worth. If you are not going to take the time to run the wires down and under like the originals, dont bother wasting your time and money.

The wires Steve listed from concourse will only fit if you run them the proper way, once again if you are not going to run them the factory way dont bother changing what you already have.

What about Accel cut to fit universal 8 mm? I have a set on, kind of routed in original fashion. They are under the manifolds and as close to the block as feasable. They work well and are resistant to burning through from exhaust contact. With Rams Horns the angled boot seems to work out OK.

They are also about $70 a set.
Premium napa wires were $40.
Standard napa $25.

I have always used good wires. Accel wires at $70 are what I would use in a race car.

Yes I thought they may be that much. When I bought them they were 39.00, quite a while ago.

46Y- is 'kind of' mean through the original style rubber blocks? Did you buy the 90 degree boots like stockers or the lower angle jobbers? I have stared at them on Summits site but could not bring myself to click!

I used 2 of the original pieces of routing hardware. The square or rectangle metal loop is on the ps engine corner, with 4 wires through it and coming around back of valve cover to dist.. One 4 wire rubber block is mounted at the engine rear 4-6 inches away from dist., handling the ds wires. The 8mm wires are diff to work into the rubber block, but I did it such that the wires are fairly tight between bloc and plugs. The block wouldnt completely close so it is held closed via the mounting bolt and two nuts. Used the 90 degree boots. It has worked allright, but there are probably guys with neater setups.

There weren't original wires to match length to, so several were cut a little shorter than ideal. Another big but inexpensive addition was to install the small plastic numeric id's on each wire close to dist.
The 4 or 5 dollars ended up saving a lot of time.

Midnight cruiser, given that you have done a slick instal on the toyota powersteering , wires should be easy.

Pertronix has universal 7mm wire sets that will fit the stock hardware fine. I've used the dividers made by Made For You Products on custom brackets to support 8mm wires. Now I'm using yet another variation to hold 12mm wires. Both setups follow the original routing very closely. I think the stock routing is very clean looking.
