Trying to remove Goose Neck Hitch

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove a Goose Neck Hitch? The PO put this one in and I have no need for it.

It looks as though the ball screws directly into the crossmember that is under the bed. There is no nut on the bottom side. I've tried pulling on it with a giagantic pipe wrench but it wouldn't budge. I'm thinking maybe a 8ft cheater bar would help....

This is my first experience messing with one of these so I thought I would seek advice in case there is some weird trick to it.

I'll add some pictures once the sun comes up.

there is usually a ball lock control bar under the bed, reached thru the fender (drivers usually).. pull that and the ball can be removed.

where are you? I'm looking for a GN hitch.. I am near austin tx.

There is no bar in the wheel well on the drivers side.

I'm in St Louis MO. If you come remove the hitch you can have it!!!

Judging by the huge lockwasher under the ball i'm thinking it's definitely screwed in.
Sun is still not up...

I would also check to make sure they didn't have the ball welded in place. If they didn't use one the name brand goose neck hitches that have bolt in cross members I bet they had some local place go the cheap route.

Sam, My truck came with a B&W Turnover ball set up, which I don't use. I've thought of taking it off, but it seems like a lot of hassle for no good reason.

Is it worth anything to you?

I am just North of Houston...

Looks like you're going to have soak the hell out of it with either PB Blaster or Kroil for several days and then have at it with a monster cheater bar and a pipe wrench. The good thing is it's not welded in place so it's only going to take time and muscle.

We have a few thread ins that just don't come out after years of being left in. If you can get a torch to the bottom it would probably break the rust loose but between the tanks and the tight spaces I am assuming that won't be possible. Worst case if you want it out and don't ever plan on using it cut it out from the top.

just bought a truck with same problem, didnt need the hitch and had to have it burnt off and ground off smooth,if i ever need i hitch i will have to replace the whole thing,If you do this be careful not to burn bed ,might be better if you can cut it with a saw zaw and then grind it with a big grinder. Man this is just sounding worse and worse.

I will definitely soak it with WD and hit it from the bottom with a small torch and see if that makes it come off.

Thanks for your help everyone

If you REALLY REALLY want the thing out, why don't you pull the bed and cut the crossmember? That isn't part of the frame anyway, it is part of the hitch.

For the guy looking for a hitch... take the B&W. Gooseneck hitches have never been so easy!

Can't pull the bed, if you look in the picture they put a HUGE plate between the ball and the bed.
